Part 1: Getting to Know Dr. Ian Crider

Uncategorized Oct 23, 2019

Meet Dr. Ian Crider

Thank you so much for joining my family of gymnasts, coaches and parents!

I want to get to know you and I think it’s important that you get to know me! When it comes to taking advice from a person online that will affect your training or the training of someone you care about, it’s important that you get to know that person. There are so many “gurus” out there, and it makes it hard to know who to trust. So I figured it’s good to let you into my story and hopefully it will resonate with you!

Feel free to reach out to me as I would love to know more about you! My email address is [email protected]

Over the next 4 days, I want to give you bite-sized pieces of my story so you can get to know me.

After finishing up my collegiate career in gymnastics, I began to coach a competitive team while going to school for my doctorate in physical therapy. I had already been coaching for 7 years prior to that, but this was the first dedicated team that I would get to coach through the season.

I quickly found out how much time it takes outside of the gym to become a great coach and give my gymnasts the best possible chance for success.

PT school was no joke, by the time I graduated I took over 130 credit hours in only 3 years. There were many days that I would be in class from 8 am-5 pm only to drive 30min and coach until 8 or 8:30 at night. On top of that, like most healthcare professionals I felt the desire to take care of myself and workout.

At one point, during my second and third year of PT school, I was getting up at 4:30 am, packing for the day, working out for an hour, going to school for 7-9 hours, coaching, and getting home around 8:45 pm. Talk about a long day! And I still needed to find time to study!

To say the least, there was a breaking point, but I will save that for the next blog post...
